The fibres are drawn from the surface into the small holes and do not get between the material to be sanded and the abrasive grains. This optimises the sanding effect. Dust can be pulled through the mesh sanding sheet over a wider area, instead of being limited to distinct holes on traditional sandpaper. Easier selection of the mesh sanding sheet as there is no need to match a specific dust extraction pattern.
